= “7 don’t believe it, but I guess|= I'll have to accept it.” 2 : With this statement, 18-year-old |S Virginia Wolfe showed her intention |= of accepting the cruel turn of fate|S which brought her and her brother|E. together in marriage and quickly |S tore them apart. Virginia,| whose real name is Crystal Clair Williamson, heard Juvenile Court Judge Wilfred Bradshaw tell] her yesterday: - “You never were, married.” ; ’ “Wronged by Society” Thus ended the first and perhaps the last chapier in the bizarre |S story of orphaned brother and sis- |= ter who grew up apart, fell in love |S and finally married. : : “You have been wronged by So- [3 ciety and o the obsolete laws which made this tragedy possible,” Judge Bradshaw told Virginia. The judge said he was referring to old birth laws which still attached a stigma to children born out of wedlock. To Virginia, her relatives and friends who |were in the court room, the judge explained that the confused birth records which resulted from efforts, of the couple’s mother to conceal their identities brought ‘about doubt in the couple’s mind and the subsequent marriage.

“Law Can’t Remedy Tragedy”

“I only wish,” Judge Bradshaw said, “that the arm of the law was long enough and powerful enough to remedy this tragedy which has occurred . . . but it can’t. “All we can do is pick up the broken pieces 2nd start anew.” Leroy Williamson, the “husbandbrother,” was not there. Two days ago he accepted the fact of his relationship to| the woman he married and left |for Urbana, Ill, where he will live with an aunt.

“She Needs Understanding”

Virginia, who will continue to use the name of Virginia Wolfe, told Judge Bradshaw again that she was an expectant mother. Under Indiana law, the child will be legitimate. i Judge Bradshaw told Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Wolfe, Virginia’s foster parents with whom she will continue to live, that Virginia not only needs continued medical care, but “she needs sympathy, understanding and a lot of help.”
