Two of Every Three in U. S. Check Favor Action Against Freighters.

PRINCETON, N. J., Dec. 19.—In case you get behind a string of motor trucks the next time you take a Sunday drive, you may be intrested to know that a large maJurity of Americans—whether they Own cars or not—would like to ban trucking from principal highways on Sundays and holidays.

The public's attitude on the motor truck situation is indicated today in a survey just completed by the American Institute of Puplic Opinion, which was conducted following a blast at the trucks by Interior Secretary Harold L. Ickes.

Some States Have Acted

To a cross-section of men and women in every state the Institute put the question: “Do you think freight trucks should be kept off highways during certain hours on Sundays and holidays?” Legislation of this kind has been passed in Wisconsin and other Midwest states, | and has been debated in California | and elsewhere. In reply to the Institute's ques-! tion approximately two of every] three with opinions on the question said “yes.” Sixty-seven per cent favored the ban. Secretary Ickes told a convention
