Fordham Eleven Won't Take *

Hoosiers Seriously, He Moans.

Times Special j NEW YORK, Nov. 10.—It re a * well-proven fact that big-time football teams from the hinterlands play twice as well in New York as &ny other spot, and it explains why Jim Crowley of the Fordham Rams is concerned about Indiana's invasion of the Polo Grounds tomorrow. The Hoosiers have had a peculiar season, in which they have looked great at times, but lost twice—to Jowa, 32-29, and to Ohio State last Saturday, 24-0. They definitely have been eliminated from the Big Ten race, which leaves them hoping furiously to score a victory over Fordham before enthusiastic New York alumni as a balm.

Odds Stump Jim

“If ever a major team was in a perfect spot to win a game, it is| Indiana against us,” says Crowley. | “For some reason I cannot fathom | Fordham has been established a 3- | to-1 favorite; Indiana is bound to rebound from that severe attack by Ohio State; this Hursh is a great passer of whom no one seems to heard and the Fordham players cannot seem to take the game seriously. “It is lucky that our regulars are in a healthy condition. Otherwise I don't know what we would do. Our victories over Pitt and Rice certainly weren't the convincing kind that should make us a 3-to-1 favorite.” Because of his timorous feeling for this game Crowley has been throwing the book of plays. defensively and offensively, at his boys this week. He has not called for any rough scrimmage, fearing further damage to some of his key men who have shown signs of wear and tear, but has concentrated on defenses against the stuff his scouts have discovered about Indiana. The Rams worked out yesterday,

tions, the problem being somewhat eased up because Coach Bo McMillin teaches the Hoosiers about the same type of offense as was used by Rice last week, particularly the single-wing backfield alignment. It was indicated that Len Eshmont again would be a starter in the Ram backfield, as in the Pitt and Rice games, while Jim Blumenstock, sophomore kicking, passing and bucking star, would languish on the bench awaiting an opportunity for full use of his talents. The flashy Eshmont was used in such capacity last year, but now seems to Rf better as the running threat at th outset.

that Coach McMillin has made a complete shakeup in his first team, with the possibility that an entire new eleven may start for the

Hoosiers. In late practices the Colonel coach jerked Hal Hursh, Joe Tofil and Clee Maddox .from his firstsfring backfield and ran through

By ELMER LAYDEN Notre Dame Football Coach IOWA CITY, Iowa, Nov. 10.— Georgia Tech should win over undefeated, once tied Kentucky this week-end. Tulane’s undefeated, once tied Green Wave is the choice

over Alabama's Crimson Tide, though it would be no upset if the Tide prevailed. Iowa, boasting one of the great sharpshooters of the year, improving as a team every Saturday, will be Notre Dame's most dangerous opp onent to date, but I figure the undefeated Irish will rise to the challenge. S. M. U. has an outside chance to up-end the powerful Texas Aggies, but the latter are indicated definitely by the record. The rest of the undefeated and the undefeated but tied shou

Bunny Minardo came near a perfect bowling game last night in the Universal League at Pritchett's Alleys, but found some consolation in rolling a 728 series, high in the city. Minardo knocked off nine straight strikes in his opening game, but dropped only nine pins on his 10th ball. He failed to make his spare and wound up with 267. He also had games of 238 and 223.
