Flood Control, Park Boards Propose ~ Project to Property Owners.

mimo A ‘plan for_ a super-boulevard |from 30th St. to Broad Ripple, which would be built jointly by the Park Board and the Marion County Flood Control Board, was outlined today by Jackiel W. Joseph, Park Board president. Mr. Joseph explained the details of the plan to representatives of the Alta G. Wheeler properties, over which a section of the proposed boulevard would pass. It would be necessary, he said,

‘for the City to acquiré right-of

way through the Wheeler property, recently annexed to the City as the Meridian-Kessler Addition.

‘Part of County Plan

The proposed boulevard is part of a county-wide boulevard plan which was mapped by the Park Department, the City Plan Commission and the County Surveyor’s office several years ago It would compare with Pleasant Run: Blvd, which now provides a through route from Bluff Road in southwest Indianapolis to Irvington, and would be preferential, Mr.

| The boulevard would begin at 30th St. and White River'and run northeast along both banks of the river as far as 38th St. From there {it would continue on the east side of the river, dipping beneath 38th St. through an underpass. Between 38th St. and Broad Ripple, it would run between the river and the Canal.

Study Proposal

Representatives of the Wheeler properties said that before agreeing to deed the right-of-way requested, they would have to consider the effect of such a boulevard on the addition. The Wheeler properties were represented by F. C. Cash, real estate agent, and Eugene Miller, attorney. George E. -Weidlich, Federal Housing Administration representative, also was present. Mr. Joseph said it was .the hope of the Park Department to provide an arterial highway skirting the north side which, he said, would greatly reduce traffic hazards in| that section.
