Fall Festival Stage Show at the school tonight. The cast includes Jeanne Gass, Betty Mae Reeve, Jack Golden and James Millholland. The festival is being given to raise money to buy uniforms for the high school band. A dance will follow.

Jefferson Fails to Find Oil— Charles E. Jefferson, Marion County Flood Control Board - member, said today that drilling on ground he leased from Butler University has failed to yield oil. Pupils to Give Paper—“Plant Growth in a Nutrient Solution,” a paper written by four pupils at Tech High School, will be presented by the Nature Study Club of the school before the Indiana Junior Academy of Science at Terre Haute Nov. 11. Work on the paper was done by Frances Scott, Mary Sharp, Paul Sheiton and Harold Blair.
10 SHIPS TIED UP IN GOTHAM DOCK STRIKE
NEW YORK, Nov. 3 (U. P.).—The Internationdl Longshoremen’s Association struck today against nine coastwise steamship lines, demanding 10 cents an hour wage increase and a 40-hour week. Seventy ships, 5000 dock workers and 3500 seamen were affected. The strike went into effect at midnight after the IL L. A. affilicate of the A. F. of L, rejected the operators’ proposal ‘that the expired contract, providing 95 cents an hour pay for a 44-hour week, be extended for 90 days. e companies involved were the Savannah Line, Pan-Atlantic Line, Clyde-Mallory, Bull Line, United Fruit, Eastern Steamship Lines, Morgan Line, Newtex Line and Mooremack Gulf Lines.
CAPONE PREPARES T0 LEAVE PRISON
TERMINAL ISLAND, Cal, Nov. 3 (U.P.).—Al Capone, the pudgy Sicilian who ruled the Chicago underworld in the heyday of prohibition, prepared today to leave Federal prison and take up- life againd as the squire of a Florida estate. All that stands in the way of his release after serving an 11-year sentence with legally deducted credits for good behavior, is the payment of about $10,000 in tax liens. His release has been set officially for Nov. 19, and it was expected that the $10,000 would be
made available on that day. .
