Cars advertised for sale shall be in possion of the advertiser, as advertised, and at address given in copy, upon the appearance of the advertisement, and willingly sold at the advertised: price and terms. If sold before ad appears, proof of sale should be avail- , able on request of an authorized representative of the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.

2. Statements of Fact Basis

Any advertised statements and offers as to make, model, year, condition, equipment, price, terms, trade, offers to purchase, terms of purchase, etc., shall be

based upon facts.

3. Year, Body Type, Etc.

All advertisements must state the following informa(1) Name, (2)-Body type, and and such statements must agree with the registration, or listing of such car in the regularly recognized Red Book, Blue Book, or other

Automobiles or trucks advertised by a dealer must be in condition to demonstrate and display, otherwise: the condition must be so advertised and qualified.

“Free” Offers

The advertising of “free” merchandise in connection with the sale of used cars shall be based upon fact and such merchandise offered as “free” shall not be contingent upon the purchaser buying other merchandise; ner shall there be any strings attached to

such “free” offers.

Radios, Heaters, Etc.

The advertising of radios, heaters, or other appurtenances in connection with ‘the sale of used cars

“down payment.”

“For Balance Due” Advertisements that offer an original contract for sale for “balance due” where buyer is required to - make up delinquent payments, must state such requirements explicitly in such advertisement.

Demonstrators The word “demonstrator” shall be understood to

“Like New” ‘Words such as “perfect,” “wholesale,” or “below wholesale,” “new,” “brand new,” “like new,” “looks or runs like new,” as pertaining to the used automobile itself, shall not be used; nor shall there be used such phases as “never registered,” “direct from the factory,” “factory official’s car or automobile,” or similar expressions meant to convey that a new car is being sold. However, the word “new,” or “like new,” may be used in describing accessories, paint, upholstery, etc. providing that such accessories, etc., are actually “new” or “like new.” /

Pictures No pictures of cars shall bz used in classified adver--tising unless they are of the cars listed for sale in such advertisement, and at the price offered in such advertisement.

“Factory Guarantee,” Etc. The phrases “factory. guarantee,”. “dealer’s official guarantee,” or “new car guarantee” shall not be used. There is nothing, however, to prevent the advertiser from stating and defining his own guarantee and the terms therof.

Superlative and Controversial

Statements Statements in advertising which are (1) controversial, ‘or which (2) reflect on other advertisers or automobile dealers are objectionable, and shall not be used. Phrases which fall into this category are the use of superlative and unprovable, exaggerated statements which may be construed as referring to other dealers, automobiles, finance rates, etc, such as “lowest,” “best,” “cleanest,” “greatest,” etc.
