6. W. FINANCE | PLAN ADVISED,
DEALER CLAIMS
Testifies in Trust Suit That - Officials Cited Firm’s Profit Need.
SOUTH BEND, Ind, Oct. 20 (U. P.).—A General Motors Corp. dealer yesterday told Federal Court that - he was advised by Corporation officials in 1934 to finance car purchases through the General Motors Acceptance Corp. “We have no use for dealers who do not avail themselves of the General Motors Acceptance Corp. General Motors needs the profit. We are not interested in filling the pockets of independent finance companies,” he quoted officials as saying. _
Claims Franchise Canceled
The witness was Ray Underwood, Gas City, Ind. and his testimony was in connection with the trial of General Motors, the Acceptance Corporation and 17 corporation officers on charges of violating the anti-trust laws. He testified that he started selling Chevrolets at Fairmont, Ind, in 1926 and in 1932 he moved to Gas City. He said his franchise was canceléd in 1935 after many arguments with General Motors representatives over his failure to use G. M. A. C. In 1936, he said, his contract was renewed.
