DUNREITH WINS BEVERAGE FIGHT
Liquor Permit Denied for Henry County Tavern After Remonstrance.
Dry leaders in Dunreith, Henry County, today won a five-year-old fight against the sale of alcoholic beverages in that town. The State Alcoholic Beverage Commission refused an application for renewal of a beer and liquor| tavern permit after nearly half the voting population of the town protested at a hearing. A remonstrance signed by more than 50 residents of the town charged that customers of the tavern in Dunreith created nightly disturbances. The remonstrators said the Town Board could not afford io hire law-enforcement officers, and that the only solution was to get rid of the tavern.
CONDUCTORS NAMED FOR MUSICAL CLINIC
Times Special ELKHART, Ind. Oct. 12.—David W. Hughes, instrumental music director in local schools, announced today selection of conductors for the Northern Indiana Band and Orchestra Association clinic here Nov. 24-25. Mr. Hughes will conduct the orchestra section. Harold Bachman, ~ band director at the University of Chicago, will be in charge of the band section. Grade nd - junior high school sections will be under the supervision of Glenn Ford, Tully High School band director. Some 200 school bandmasters in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan are being sent invitations to participate.
ANDERSON FORMS ACCIDENT BUREAU
Times Special ANDERSON, Ind., Oct. 12.—Chief of Police Joseph Carney today announced the formation of an Accident Prevention Bureau here. Fourteen officers of the police department will comprise the bureau. They will attend a safety school for 10 days to receive instruction.
