Frisch succeeded Pie Traynor, who resigned at the close of this season. | Next year will be Wagner's eighth year as coach and his 26th year with the Pirates, with whom he achieved baseball immortality as a shortstop. He will be 66 next Feb. 24.

A series of ghamber music concerts this winter and a series of band and orchestral concerts next summer in the public parks also -is planned. In addition, Mr. Pelz said, choral groups will be organized under direction of the WPA and will: give recitals in various communities. Group orchestral and instrumental instruction will be given to persons who certify they are without means to take private lessons, he said. . Other cities where programs will be carried out are Evansville, Clinton, Kokomo, South Bend, . Ft. Wayne, New Castle, Elwood, New Albany, Bedford, Decatur and Vincennes.

Jimmy Demoted At Own Request

WASHINGTON, OCT. 12 (U. P.)—James Roosevelt has re‘signed his commission as Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps because he believes that he lacks the age and experience necessary for such rank in event he is called for active service. The Marine Corps accepted the resignation today. Mr. Roosevelt, the eldest son of the President and an executive in the Samuel Goldwyn motion picture enterprises, will be 32 in December. In tendering his resignation he asked that he be recommissioned as a captain in the Ma- - rine Reserves. He explained that he feels that rank would be more commensurate with his age and experience. The Marine Corps indicated he . will be reappointed with that rank.

P.)—A British Air Force pilot who made a forced landing on Raufarhoefn Island, Iceland, and then returned to Britain, is to be sent back as soon as possible, the Air Ministry announced today.
