SOUTH BEND, Ind, 12 (U. P.) —The Government will continue /calling witnesses in| | Federal Court ( today in its attempt to prove that she! General Motors Corp, three af- | filiated” concerns, and 17 officers of ‘the companies violated the Shernian Anti=Trust Act by forcing deal-

Denies Franchise Canceled

They were L. I. Stewart, former zone * manager for Chevrolet Motor Co. at Pittsburgh, Pa., and Buffalo, N. Y., and now an agent for a competitive car at Pittsburgh, and L. C. Gale of St. Louis, Mo., formerly employed by the Acceptance Corp. and tiow branch manager of a competitive car financing concern. Mr. Stewart denjed that he ever explicitly canceled a dealers franchise for failure to use G.M. A.C. and asserted that he never had beén uthorized by his superiors to cang sales contracts or failure to use . M. A. C. ; Fo direct examination by Holmes Baldridge, chief Government coungel, he said “there was nothing ‘could be done” when a dealer refused to use G. M.A. C.

Tells of Phone Call

‘ He also hinted that he had been discharged because he was a “softie <you have to haye ice water in your veins.” Mr. Gale told of| a telephone call which he said his superior made to a General Motors dealer. He said the dealer was told “you promised to use G. M. A. C. [Now quit fooling ground.” He said he knew nothing more about the incident. i Since he left G. M. A. C. to join the competitive organization, he said; some Gene Motors dealers have starfed fina. ting cars through Ris concern, some (of them, he asserted,. since the indictments voted ggainst the concerns. 4 Donaldson.
