Col. Abner Pickering + Services for Col. "Abner Pickering, U. 8. Army, retired, were to be held today at San Diego, Cal., and Friday at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington. Col. Pickering, a native of Indiana and first military in- . Struetor at Purdue University, died Priday at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. +The retired officer was born near ‘Wabash 85 years ago, and entered West Point in 1874. He served as instructor at Purdue for four years during the 1880s. He attended the - 60th reunion of his West Point class last year. Col. Pickering was the father of Mrs. Mauree Mahin, 1321 N. Meridian St., wife of Liéut. Col. Frank C. Mahin, senior instructor of the 38th Division, Indiana National Guard. Besides Mrs. ‘Mabhin, survivors are the wife, Mrs. Ada Pickering; daughter, Mrs. M. C. Smith - Beverly Hills, Cal., wife of Brig. Gen. M. C. Smith, U. S. Army, retired; two sons, Lieut. Col. Woodeil A. Pickering of San Antonio, Tex., and John Pickering of Mauila, P. I, and 12 grandchildren.

Mrs. Permelia Magee

Funeral services for Mrs. Permelia Almina Magee, who died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Noble H. Shute, 502¢ Kenwood Ave, will be at 10 a. m. tomorrow in the Mooresville Methodist Church

and burial will be in Newman, Ill. Mrs. Magee was 87 and had been - {11 for only a short while. She was bern Oct. 25, 1851, in Toronto, Ind., and was married in 1870 to John A> Magee. ' They lived at Newman until his death in 1910. Until recently Mrs. Magee had lived with another daughter, Mrs. S: S. Sutton, Camby. Mrs. Magee was a member of the Mooresville Methodist Church and of the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by the two daughters, Mrs. Shute and Mrs. Sutton, and two sons, Ray Magee and Dr. Floyd Magee, both of Indianapolis.

Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Isabelle Brown, 'who died yesterday at her home, 803 N. Keystone Ave., will be held at 10 a. m. tomorrow at the Dorsey Fungral Home. Burial will be at Washington Park. Mrs. Brown was born in Nashville, Ind., 57 years ago, and came to Indianapolis from Franklin 21 years ago. She was a member of the Greensburg Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Charles B. Brown; a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Van, and three sons, Wilbur L., Charles M. and Paul, all of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Murphy of Indianapolis and Mrs. Amanda McQueen of Nineveh, Ind, and nine grandchildren.

‘Claude W. Katzenberger

Claude W. Katzenberger, 1114 N. Oxford St., a World War veteran, died last night in City Hospital, where he was taken after he suffered a stroke yesterday. Mr. Katzenberger was 43, a native of Indianapolis, -and a member of the Centenary Christian Church and Brookside Lodge 720, FF. & A. M. He served during the war in the 24th Cavalry and the | 82d Field Artillery. He is survived by his mother, Mrs, Ida Katzenberger, and - three brothers, George, Ralph and William Katzenberger, all of Indianapolis. ervices will be at 2 p. ni. Tuesday in the. Harry W. Mrs. Fannie S. Liepold was to be buried at Cincinnati today following funeral services at the |Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary. Mrs. Liepold died Saturday at the home of her daughter, “Mrs. Joseph M. Bloch, 4163 Washington Blvd. | A native of Cincinnati, Mrs. Liepold had lived in Indianapolis for 14 years. She was 76, and a member of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. Besides Mrs. Bloch, survivors are a son, A. E. Liepold of St. Louis, and a brother, C. B. Sommers of Indianapolis.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Mildred Loftis, 1802 Berwick Ave., will be held af 1 p. m. tomorrow in the Conkle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Floral Park. Mrs. Loftis, who was 33, died Saturday in Methodist Hospital’ where she had been a patient for several weeks. She was a native of Indianapolis and had lived all her life on the West Side. FRANK CONES IS DEAD AT 67

Republican Politician Served On County Council and Works Board.

Frank Cones, Indianapolis real estate dealer ‘anid Republican politician, will be buried at Crown Hill Wednesday following funeral services at 2 p. m. at his residence, 5808 Central Ave. Mr. Cones, who was 67, died. yesterday at his home. Active in Republican politics - for many years, he had served as a precinct committeeman and ward chairman, was a member of the County Council from 1926 to 1930, a member of the Wotks Board in 1927 and candidate for County Treasurer five times, from 1930 to 1938. Born of a: pioneer family on a Washington Township farm, Mr. Cones graduated from Ben Davis High School, worked as a traveling salesman and, in 1898, helped start the firm of Hummel & Cones, which sold buggies and farm machinery. In 1905, Mr. Cones acquired an interest in the Gates-Osborn Carriage Co.- of Indianapolis and the Marshalltown Buggy Co. of Marshalltown, Iowa. He entered the real estate business in 1908. Mr. Cones was a member of the North Methodist Church: Millersville Masonic Lodge; Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Raper Commandery 1; Oriental Lodge, Indianapolis Council, Mystic Shrine; Sahara Grotto; Arion Lodge, K. of P., and Red Men's Lodge. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Vera Cones; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Arbuckle, Mrs. Alice Appleget, Mrs. Bertha Johnson and Mrs. Tressie Kirk, and a brother, Charles G. oan

Oliphant, retired Vincénnes industrialist and former State Highway Commission member, died yesterday at/ Detroit, where he had gone to consult a specialist. Mr. Oliphant, who was 72, had been ill for several months. Mr, Oliphant, who was a native of Monroe County, was active in many Knox County industrial enterprises. During the World War, he was a member of the nine-man advisory committee appointed by President Wilson. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ida Bowers and Mrs. Eva Smith of Vincennes and Mrs.
