reported today. The trade authority reported total check transactions for the week ended Oct. 4 at $5,736,092,000 compared with $5,922;725,000 in the 1938 ‘period, or a decrease of 3.2 per cent. The current volume, which included settlements, was $542,146,000 above that

of the Sept. 27 week, compared with %|8 rise of $1316, 061,000 ‘between the

two similar weeks of 1938.

duction in the week ended Sept. 30 declined almost 23,000 barrels, while - gasoline stocks increased 148,000 barrels, the American Petroleum Institute reported today. = Crude production in the latest week amounted to 3,658,200 barrels daily, a decline of 22,850 barrels from the preceding week’s average, but in excess of the Bureau of Mines calculated daily requirements for September of 3,510,700 barrels.
