The proposed Recreation \Council, Mr. Middlesworth said, would be composed of representatives of neighborhood groups -and civic organizations and would meet periodically with. park officials. The Council, Mr. Middlesworth pointed out, not only would give the Department an idea of what various communities want in the way of a recreation program, but also would help to stave off criticism. Jackiel W. Joseph, Board president, said he approved of the idea. The playground petition was presented to Mayor Reginald H. Sullivan and A. C. Sallee, City Parks superiritendent, yesterday by a

Fred Boyce, 1236 Blaine Ave., and Dr. William E. Arbuckle, 1759 W. Morris St., spokesmen, told ‘ the Mayor they wanted the City to lease the ground from the School Board. The ground is the former site of School 46. Mr. Boyce said that a similar petition would be presented to the School Board at -its next regular meeting. The delegation also went on record as opposing the recreation program of a Community Fund agency which used the Rhodius Park Community House last year. Members said they objected to the organization because they felt it was a “charitable” group and was

. not needed in the neighborhood.

The man who probably has. the| shortest shame in Indianapolis is) all ready for his longest vacation. He is Fin Ax, retiring Saturday from the Railway Mail Service after 32 years’ service. The first thing he plans to do is to learn to sleep regular hours.
