Preparations have been completed fo place thousands of Indiana

Times Specinl ANDERSON. Ind., Sept. 22.— America must stay out of the war,

Governor M. Clifford Townsend declared here last night in an address before the Chamber of Commerce. “Our participation in war would only lead to the useless sacrifice of our man power, and the disintegration of our economic and social structure.” he asserted. The Governor said that America by staying out of the war could develop its resources and build up the security of its citizens to such an extent that “the world will look to

us as the one power that has peacefully adjusted itself to the social revolution in progress throughout the world.” He expressed hope that industry would prepare to avoid a collapse in domestic buying power that usually comes with a war boom crash. “This is the problem of industry, because the decision as to whether America can continue to operate under a free and competitive capitalism depends upon whether that svstem can meet the crisis ahead,” he declared.
