Times Special WASHINGTON, Sept. 11, = Als though income tax collections in Indiana fell off 144 per cent during the fiscal year 1038-39, as compared with the previous 12-month period, total internal revenue collections in the state were up .6 per cent, the Treagury reported today. With an estimated population ot 3,474,000 as of July 1, 1927, the state {has 2.68 per cent of the total popu[lation of the United States. The total revenue collections in the state for the fiscal year ending June [30, 1939, amounting to $114,874, the 3 represents 222 per cent of

the grand total collections of $5,181,573,052.58. Corporation income tax payments [in Indiana were §17,947,156.46, a decrease of 11.7 per cent, and individ« | ual income taxes $13,651,545.71, a 176 per cent drop. Total income taxes in the state amounted to $31,« 598,702.17, as compared with $36,-|\;

14.4 per cent drop. Miscellaneous internal revenue collections in Indiana, including excess profits, liquor, tebacco, stamp taxes, manufacturers’ excise and the so-called nuisance taxes, amounted to $72,14847239, an increase of 7.1 per cent, Payroll, Social Security and the taxes under the Carriers Acts amounted to $11,127,10135, a 121 per cent increase,
