Drop Noted in Fly Population, And It’s a Scientific Mystery
It Can Be Laid to Wasps or Virulent Disease— But Those Wasps Refuse to Talk.
C may have gone unnoticed to most people, but there has been a noticeable decrease in. the fly population this summer which is more or less against a two-ply (or two-fly) trend. Everyone knows, of course, that there are more flies in the summer than in the winter, although flies can and do winter-over
actively. And it is usual for there to be more flies and mosquitoes during rainy summers, as this was, than during dry summers. Anyone who is familiar with State Fairs |yesterday. of this andgother years knows | passing a forged check for $20.

CLAY GOUNGIL GUTS THREE RELIEF ITEMS
BRAZIL, Ind, Sept. 8 (U. P.) — Drastic slashes in poor relief in three Clay County townships had been voted today by the County Council, although authority of the Council to recommend such slashes was in question. The slashes affected Brazil, Dick Johnson and Posey townships. In Brazil Township the rate was cut from $2.76 to $1.37; in Dick Johnson, from $2.76 to $1.50; In Posey from $1.00 to 8.70. It was estimated the reductions would save Brazil taxpayers approximately $70,000 annually; Dick Johnson taxpayers, $15,000, and Posey taxpayer , $7000. Rates were cut slightly in other townships. The recommendations must be approved by the Tax Adjustment Board.

The drug, he said, will be added to the weapons against the disease and all cases will be studied closely in an effort to find where it fits in best. He said there has been an unusual number of wasps this year in and about Indianapolis in particular and possibly throughout the state. They have occasioned scores of calls from householders asking what can be done to get rid of them, he said, and usually he took the trouble to explain that the wasps probably were the cause of the lack of flies. Wasps eat flies. Nearly always, he sald, the callers stated that they would
