BROWDER FACES DIES QUESTIONS

Communism Is Next on List: Nazi, Fascist Probes Are Summarized.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 (U. P).— The Dies Comittee turned today toward an investigation of communism after summarizing its months| of inquiry into Fascist and Nazi activities with a warning against “racketeering peewee Hitlers” bent | on changing our form of govern-| ment, Taking a recess over the Labor|‘ Day holiday, the Committee announced that it will resume hearings Tuesday with Earl Browder, general secretary of the Communist Party in the United States, as the] witness. The Committee held a brief ex- | ecutive session yesterday to approve a preliminary report on NaziFascist activities. The report was based on an investigation that began this year. Fritz Kuhn, head of the German-American Bund; Maj. Gen. George van Horn Hoseley, retired, and many others testifled during the hearings.

Fascists Numerous’

“Numerous Nazi-Fascist groups are today overating in the United States,” the report said. “Their primary aims appear to be: “1. A radical change in the| American form of government, and “2. The collection of dues from such misguided citizens as will sup- | port them. “Our conclusion from the evidence is that these groups are engaged in a form of racketeering as well in subversive activity.” | Scores of organizations of the] Fascist type in America have borrowed some or all of their ideology from European Fascism, the Uo mittee asserted.

TWO STILL HUNTED IN WOMAN'S DEATH

Police today continued their search for two men last seen riding in an automobile with Mrs. Lena Miller, 39, whose body was found Tuesday in a septic tank at the City sewage disposal plant.

Detective Lieut. Donald Tooley said that a lie detector test, given yesterday to a 32-year-old suspect, had convinced police that he had no knowledge of the case, and the man was released. Mrs. Miller, who disappeared last week from her home, 207 S. Davidson St., may have been alive when she fell or was pushed into the tank, according to Coroner E. R. Wilson.

Windsor Going To Homeland?

ONDON, Sept. 1 (U. P)— The Duke of Windsor plans to return immediately to England from France, the well-informed Londoner's Diary, published in the Evening Standard, said today. It was asserted that in all probability his Duchess, the former Wallis Warfield Simpson, will accompany him. It is likely the Duke will be given a post in connection with national defense, the Diary said.
