WP¥ Allotment to Be Used To Improve Airdrome; Part | Of U. S. Program.

~The $435533 WPA allotment to the National Guard airport at Stout Field, announced at Washington Sesterday, will be used to expand

and improve the military airdrome |!

¥w care ‘for reserve air corps unit . in addition to guard planes, it was learned today. : The improvement project is 1a part of the Federal Government's nilitary defense expansion program. National Guard officials said plans had been made to move the fourPlane reserve air unit now stationed at Schoen Field, Ft. Harrison, to Stout Field, base for the 38th Division air squadron of 10 planes. The work at the field will consist of bricking up, modernizing and enlarging the three Federal plane hangars, moving of boundary lights to include areas added to the field and reroofing of the building now housing the photographic and Medical sections and the restaurant. Maj. Oliver Stout, squadron commander, said the garage also would be enlarged to accommodate new Federal equipment assigned there and that the field will be graded and drained.

| QUICK DENIES HE'S SLOW ' SAN JOSE, Cal. Aug. 24 (U. PJ). —Mrs. L. Marie Quick has asked for divorce from her husband, John Quick, on the grounds that he failed to live up to his name. She charged that he was slow about getting home at night. It only took Quick 10 minutes, however, to file an answer denying the charge.

Approximately 200 tomato growers are expected to compete in the sec-

ond all-Indiana Tomato Show Tuesday at the Claypool Hotel. The Indiana Tomato Tournament, Inc. is sponsor of the event. A total of $200 will be given in prizes and only tomatoes gathered from fields contracted by canners can be entered in competition.’ Samuel B. Walker of the William H. Block Co. is chairman of the arrangements: committee. He announced today that judges for the show will: be J. E. Dickerson, Fed-eral-State supervising inspector of fruits and vegetables; FP. C. Gaylord, associate chief in horticulture at Purdue University, and A. A. Irwin, Marion County assistant agricultural agent. Lieut. Gov. Henry F. Schricker,

and Horace E. Abbott, Marion County agricultural agent, will speak at a banquet in the Riley Room following the judging. The Indiana Tomato Tournament, Inc, is a non-profit civic organization formed a year ago by representatives of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Purdue University, Indianapolis Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Indiana State Farm Bureau, the Indianapolis Convention Bureau and the Indiana Canners Association. Its purposes are to help maintain and improve the quality of Indiana grown tomatoes and increase consumer de-

mand for Indiana grown tomatoes.
