JAIL ELWOOD MAN IN WHITE SLAVE CASE
William C. Davis, alias Robert Mitchell, 28, of Elwood, was bound. over to Federal Grand Jury today after waiving a hearing yesterday on a charge of violating the White Slave Traffic Act. According to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents Mitchell transported a 21-year-old Davenport, Iowa, girl from St. Joseph, Mich., to Indianapolis on Aug. 14 for immoral purposes. U. 8S. Commissioner Howard 8S. Young set Mitchells bond at $2500 which he was unable to furnish.

board of trustees is expected to fill two important administrative positions at its regular August meeting tomorrow—the ' deanship of the schools of business and dentistry. The new dean of the school of business will succeed Herman B Wells, who was chosen president of the university. The deanship of the school of dentistry at Indianapolis has been vacant since the death of Frederic R. Henshaw al year ago.

BELVIDERE, m, Aug. 22 (U. P). —sSheriff Perry Bennett announced today-that he had jailed Harry S. Fisher, 53, Indiana metal refiner, who had reported that he was
robbed of $10,000 in cash last night|

He told Sheriff Bennett early today that the men and woman had lured him into Illinois on a pretense of selling him two carloads of scrap brass and copper and robbed him last night on a highway two miles east of Belvidere. He said one of the men, who identified himself as Ben Wolf of Cleveland, came to his office at Valparaiso a week ago and told him he knew a man who would sell him the metal for $10,000 cash. He agreed to meet Wolf at Rockford, Ill, he said, and yesterday withdrew $7000 from the Valparaiso State Bank and obtained $3000 in assorted bills from his wife. He said he drove to Rockford and met Wolf and his two companions at a hotel. The four then left in an auto. together, he said. He said that after the trio had robbed him they threw away his automobile keys and fled in an automobile, bearing Ohio license plates, hey had followed them from Rockord.’ Sheriff Bennett said Mr. Fisher had not :been able to describe the second automobile and did not know the color of Ohio license plates. ‘The robbers were suposed to have taken all of his money,” Sherff Bennett said, “but we found that he was carrying $200 when we questioned im.”

VALPARAISO, Ind. Aug. 22 (v. P.) —Authorities here awaited the arrival of Sheriff Perry Bennett of Belvidere, Ill, to investigate local angles of tne story of Harry 8S. Fisher, Valparaiso metal refiner, that he was robbed last night of $10,000 by two men and a woman. Mrs. Fisher declined to comment on her husband’s detention in jail by Sheriff Bennett, and asserted that she knew nothing of his withdrawing $7000 from a bank here as he said.
