LA PORTE, Ind, Aug. 16 (U. P.). —Two 18-year-old Hoosier youths were serving five-day sentences in County Jail here today for hitchhiking. They were Alvin Detterline of East Chicago and John Klouck of Whiting, first offenders to be arrested in La Porte County under a new state law. The two were arrested by State Policeman Howard Winters in Rolling Prairie yesterday as they tried to get a “lift” from a truck Justice of the Peace W. R. Hawley fined them each $1 and costs which they were unable to pay.
