Dances at Country Clubs

Headline the Activities Calendar

HE Indianapolis Country Club’s dance tonight and bridge party Wednesday are among events of social prominence in the midst of a season when dances and bridge parties are classed as headliners. Paul Barker and his orchestra will play for outside dancing tonight. Mr.

and Mrs. Claude C. Jones are chairmen of entertainment.

The luncheon-bridge party Wednesday will begin at 12:30 p. m. at the club. Members of the bridge committee in charge of arrangements for the event are Mrs. Sheldon R. Sayles, chairman, assisted by Mesdames Hal T. Benham, Robert F. Daggett, Talbott Denny, Hal R. Keeling, Herbert S. King, John L. Reuss, Obie J. Smith Jr, Robert S. Stempfel and J. Thayer Waldo. Sunday’s feature will be a diving exhibition by Hal Benham Jr. and the club has planned a buffet supper afterward.

Swimming Banquet at Meridian" Hills.

Meridian Hills Country Club members, particularly the juniors, are looking forward to the annual swimming banquet Friday, Aug. 25, at the club. Awards will be made“at the banquet to the young members who have not been eliminated from the “ladder climb” competition of the annual interclub swimming contests. Monday, Hillcrest Country Club swimmers will come to Meridian Hills, while Woodstock will go to Highland for their swimming. Tuesday and Wednesday, the women will have their inning, with a luncheon bridge party Tuesday. Bridge playing begins at 10 a. m,, with luncheon at 1 o'clock. On Wednesday, the women will hold their golf guest day.

Weekly Dance at Highland

A bright spot in the lives of Highland Golf and Country Club members is the weekly Saturday night dinner dances at the club. Bill Hart and his Orchestra will play for the dance tonight. Details for the Labor Day activities have not yet been arranged, but a “special dance is assured.

Breakfast-Bridge at Hillcrest

At Hillcrest, the next highpoint on the social horizon is a breakfast bridge party Thursday, Aug. 24. Mrs. Frank L. Alford will have charge of arrangements for this particular event, serving as an assistant to Mrs. E. C. Cox, who is chairman of all bridge ties.
