Fascists, Moderates and Army Men Get Positions In Government.
By WILLIAM PHILIP SIMMS {Times Foreign Editor BURGOS, Aug. 11.—Generalissimo Francisco Franco js keeping a cool head in these difficult times. In his tremendous job of unifying 25 million people who were split into half a dozen factions by a savage civil war, he is feeling his way slowly toward the precise form his Government eventually will take.
Some of Gen. Pranco’s followers are saying that if Spain wants a King, Gen. Pranco would make a good one. Some believe that Gen. Franco should emulate Hungary's Admiral . Horthy, declare himself Regent, and await a more propitious moment for restoring the monarchy. Others insist that Spain should imitate Italy's King-and-Duce setup.
Franco In Quandary
Still another group demands that :
the Government be modeled after Nazi Germany. Lastly, some still
want a moderate republic with Gen, Franco in the role of Washington, |
father of a new Spain,

of the combined support of three
main political forces, namely the Army, the Falangists and the Requetes.

divided as to whether a Carlist or a Hapsburg king should sit on the
throne.
In his new Cabinet yesterday, he made himself Premier. His brother-in-law, Ramon Serrano Suner, Fascist choiee for Premier, remained as Minister of Interior. Gen. Count Francisca Jordana, candidate for Premier, Count Jordana became Vice Premier without portfolio. The Army’s share in the Cabinet was the faming of Gen. Juan Yague, recently removed by Falangists from the command of the Moroccan troops, as Air Minister, and Gen. Jose Varela. as War Minister.

CHICAGO, Aug: 11 (U. P.).—Fred B. Snite Jr., the “Boiler Kid,” and his bride of a day played hide and seek with newspapermen today to keep secret their plans for a honeymoon in his specially built, air-con-ditioned’ trailer. Mr. Snite, 29, an infantile paralysis victim who has lived in an iron lung since he was stricken three years ago in China, was married yesterday in a simple ceremony at |the home of his wealthy father, Fred iB. Snite Sr., in suburban River Forest. His bride was Teresa Larkin, 25, formerly of Dayton. O., an attractive brunet and college chum of his sister, Mary Loretta.
After the ceremony Mr. Snite said he would take his bride to Niagara Falls “to see if the water is still running,” but he kept secret when they would leave. It was rumored today that the couple had left. Messengers and reporters said no one was at home at the Snite residence. However, a friend of the family believed Snite would not he able to leave for two or three weeks until he completes a series of treatments he is receiving. : ‘The couple went .for a 200-mile ride in the country late yesterday in the trailer. The trip took them into southern Wisconsin where, it was learned, they dined with friends at Lake Lauderdale. The trailer is large enough to accommodate not only Mr. Snite and his 900-pound lung but also his attendants. He and his bride will be accompanied on their trip by a

chauffeur, a woman nurse and a male attendant. Mr. Snite appeared brighter ahd stronger yesterday than at any time since his long fight for life began. He hopes some day for a complete recovery. During the first two years of his illness he was forced to remain in the lung all the time but during the past year he has been able to spend several hours outside, using instead a 20-pound respirator which fits about his chest. He is even able to breathe for several minutes without mechanical assistance.

Bumper Yield in Sight
That was before the advent of! hybrid corn, however, and this '& year, despite typical hot winds and hundred degree témperatures, the fields of Douglas county are going to produce a bumper yield. Raymond H. Gilkeson, managing editor of the Kansas Farmer in Topeka, who is in charge of this year’s national contest, looked over the fields selected and pronounced the corn in virtually perfect shape. °
