Thora Marie Penman, Bick“nell, Dies While Wading in Pond at Farm.

‘Times Special

BICKNELL, Ind, Aug. 11.—Respiratory complications and shock today kept 13-year-old Betty Rav‘ellette in a critical condition after a narrow escape from drowning yesterday. :

Her playmate, 14-year-old Thora ‘Marie Penman, also of Bicknell, was -drowned when the two were wading in a pond on the farm of Arnold Crabbe, near here. They stepped into a hole and ‘Eugene Phelps, 12, who was swimming nearby, heard their screams and attempted their rescue.
