Cantor Laughs At $751,000 Suit

P)— Eddie Cantor laughed today at a $751,000 damage suit filed against him by an Austrian-American and his wife who claim they were beaten up for walking out on the comedian’s radio program of wisecracks about Hitler. : “That’s the highest value,” cracked Mr. Cantor, “That’s ever been placed on my jokes.” ‘Charles Gollob and his wife Elsie are suing Mr. Cantor, other members of his show, and the broadcasting company. They claim that they were assaulted by Bert Gordon, the “Mad Russian” on the Cantor show, when they walked out because, they claimed, Mr. Cantor’s anti-Nazi jokes were “stale and uninteresting:”

OLLYWOOD, Aug. 3 (U. P.). —The right of Skippy, the movie ¢himpanzee who acts with Johnny Weismuller in Tarzan pictures, to howl at the full moon
stood valid today by a ruling of the Culver City Municipal Coun-
cil. Neighbors of the chimp’s owner, Mrs. Erna Fowler, sought to have Skippy barred from the city. But Mrs. Fowler signed 50 other neighbors to a petition citing Skippy as a “gentlemanly character’ and agreeing that he howls at the full moon no louder than a dog barks. Skippy was given a residential permit for six months. ?
