assertion of park officials that the books had not been audited for 10 years. Park Board members, informed of the annual audit, said they had been under a misapprehension, presumably ’ because reports - on the audits have been made tq the City Controller instead of to the Board. Meanwhile, negotiations for a 130acre park on Big Eagle Creek ketween Lambert and Raymond Sts. vere reported. halted today because “the Board and the Indianapolis _ Railways Co. owner of the land, gould not agree on a price. The Board is considering the purchase of the land which was abandoned several years ago by the company as a part of its expansion program next year. oo

Park Expansion Planned

Plans for the program, revealed Sesterday, include the acquisition of at least 12 new plavgrounds on the ‘Southwest and 'East sections of town, the utilization of 15 school playlots and the purchase of about 100 acres of park land. About $15,--000 will be asked in thé Department’s 1940 budget for land pury ‘ghase, As the Board studied its 1940 financial needs, Mr. Brennan revealed that a new method of reporting City Department audits will ‘he used this year. The reports will he made directly to the Boards, instead of only to the Controller. Formerly, it was customary to report audits to the Controller oniy. The new method will save confusion, Mr. Brennan said.
