Abatement League Wonders If Supervisor Is Giving Full Time to Joh.

Superintendents of seven railroads today were asked to investi-| gate reports that their railroad smoke abatement supervisor wis) not devoting “his full time” to, smoke control work. In letters drafted by a special | committee, the Indianapolis Smoke Abatement League said it had received information that the supervisor had been given the title of “road foreman of engines” by the Indianapolis Union Railway Co. J. J. Liddy, Union Railway superintendent, would not comment on the letter. The committee stated that Daniel J. Welsh, the first smoke abatement supervisor who resigned last year, had been requested to assume other duties but had refused.
