Night Mare
Sugar Stops Freight, But Police Save Situation.
EWARK. N. J, June 23 (U. P.). — The crew of an Erie Railroad freight train and Newark police had a night mare to deal with last night on the trestle over the ‘dry bed of the Old Morris Canal here. It's name is Sugar. Sugar pulls a milk truck for Andrew Benenato of Belleville, and after the day’s work grazes in a field near the Erie tracks. Last night Sugar wandered onto the tracks and when she reached the trestle her rear hooves slipped between two wooden ties. An eight-car freight train bound for Jersey City reached the trestle and stopped. The train crew called police and a derrick was rigged and a belly band slipped around Sugar. But the horse's shoes would. not slide through the ties. Ernie Ratner saved the day (or night) by removing the shoes and the Erie Railroad functioned again.

show judges, said the quality of | and Boys this year’s lambs in Indiana is| more uneven than usual, many| having been handicapped by poor | pastures caused by dry weather. The winning lambs in both classes had alfalfa pasture during the spring months and a grain ra-| tion of corn and oats during the] final feeding period. Those ex- | hibited by Robert Strange Jr. were) born in mid-February and averaged 75 pounds in weight, while | those shown by Foster were born a| few days later and weighed 80, pounds each.
