orw. JUDGE TO HEAR FOOD PACKERS’ VIEWS MONDAY
Stokely, Van Camp Seek Permanent Writ Against | Labor Union.
A hearing on the Stokely Bros. | & ‘Co. and Van Camp, Tne, suit)
seeking a permanent junction |
against the International Chauf-| fears, Teamsters, Stablemen and Helpers Union, Local No. 185, is to be held before Superior Court Judge Herbert Wilson at 2 p.m. Monday. The suit seeks an order to permanently enjoin the Union from alleged labor activities which the suit charged “unlawfully interfere” in the food packers’ ‘business operation.” Judge Wilson granted a tem- | porary restraining order when the suit was filed yesterday. The suit charges also that Union members, who went out on a strike at the Stokely plant and offices March &, were “restraining interstate commerce.” The suit charged a “blockade” had been established | around one of its plants by strikers. Emmett Williams, president of vhe | local and a defendant in the suit, declined to comment today. | The uit was accompanied by, photographs which plaintiffs claimed showed pickets in front of the sales office, 941 N. Meridian, The suit states that the signs car- | vied by the pickets were “untrue and libelous” and that there never had | been a “comiplaint issued” againsi the food packing company “by the National Labor Board to result any strike.”
