BANK ACQUIRED AT BEECH GROVE BY FARM CO-OP
Institution, First of Kind in U. S., Will Serve as Depository.
A controlling interest in the Citizens State Bank at Beech Grove has been acquired by the Indiana Farm Bureau Co-operative Association, Inc, it was announced today. The bank will serve as a depository and financial agency for the association and other similar nonprofit organizations, according to I. H. Hull, association manager. Mr. Hull, who has been elected president of the bank to succeed W. S. Newcomer, said the move was sponsored by the association in ors der to “put a definite plan and system behind its own financing operations and services.” The control was acquired with the understanding that the stock would be divided among such organizations as the Indiana Farm Bureau, various local consumer co-operatives, credit unions and similar organizations. The only stock held individually will be that required to qualify directors. Mr. Hull said the bank will operate more or less as a clearing house for such organizations, at the same time continuing its present community service. The bank is the first co-operative venture of its sort in the United States, although most of the European co-operative movements have developed strong financial institutions which are clasely affiliated with co-operative activities, Mr. Hull said. Other officers are M. J. Briggs, vice president, and William Iverson, cashier and secretary-treasurar. Mr. Briggs is treasurer of the Farm Bureau Co-operative.

Sullivan Will Confer With Keach on Action as Safety Measure.
Mayor Sullivan said today that he would confer with LeRoy J. Keach, Safety Board president, on the possibility of issuing a proclamation ordering the muzzling of
