SPEEDWAY FACTS

Start of the main stretch. The long straightawuys are 3300 feet long (five-eighths of a mile). The turns are 1320 feet at a 16 degree bank and the short straightaways at the ends are 660 feet. The track is 50 feet wide on the straightaways and 60 feet wide on the turns. The safety apron adds an additional 50 feet. The Press Pagoda. The pit section. The garages—"Gasoline Alley.” The 16th St. entrance, This is the turn once called "Death Curve." (The northwest curve is likewise a danger spot.)
