Singing Girl Hitch-Hiker Wins Chance for Career
Cinderella's slipper, in the form of training in voice and dramatics, is being handed to a gifted 14-year-old Indianapolis girl who in the last year has hitch-hiked some 2000 miles to “get away from home.” Astounded by the exceptional quality of the girl's voice, Juvenile Court Judge Wilfred Bardshaw has taken a personal interest and has arranged to send her to a well-known school where she will have the best of training. His only explanation for that is that perhaps an apprentice whittled out type so that it appeared right to him as he looked at it and thus printed backwards. In the second place there fis, in the index, a listing of “the abominable error in determining the vernal equinox.” It's supposed to be in Chapter Two, but Mr. Tonides| says he can't find hide nor hair of it.
