DISCIPLES RAP FOREIGN WARS, CLOSE PARLEY

Dr. Kershner Cails for Sympathetic Stand on Church Unions.

Delegates to the Indiana centennial convention of the Disciples of Christ, pledged to refuse support in a foreign war, left for their homes today. The convention ended with an address by Dr. Frederick D. Kershner, dean of the Butler University College of Religion, in the Central

Christian Church. He outlined a five-point program through which he said the 291 Protestant denominations may some{time be joined in a universal church. He said a sympathetic attitude toward all unions of denominations should be maintained, churches and the fibre of Christian citizenship {should be built, the New Testament should be followed, the fires of freedom and religious liberty should be kept alive, and the vision of a Chris tian union should be maintained. | Dr. Kershner said he believed (there was not much hope for a | union of Protestants with the Cathi [olic and the Greek Orthodox churches, but that there was hope for a union of all Protestant de- ¢ | nominations.
