Lindbergh’s Temperament Called Handicap for Air Secretary.

out that sort of setup Any sort of rumor touching Col. Lindbergh gains flying speed, because no one seems to know much about him. And he seems determined to keep it that way, in spite of the fact that he is the world’s No. 1 airman. “Statesman” Needed
That a paradox that Col. Lind-| bergh, the finest example of Amer-|
jcan flving man, should be slowly sliding toward the weird status occupied by the British Lawrence of Arabia. That will be too bad. He is by ne means fitted by temperament to be Air Secretary, or to occupy any political position. Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker is the only flving man in the country fitted for that job, but he would have to be pried away from running a successful airline. Outside of Capt. Rickenbacker, we need for that troublesome post the finest, hardhitting business executive in the country—who has never flown an airplane. The problems of making a success of that hot spot job, against the wild opposition of the Army and Navy services, will require the best executive brains. .tact and fearless courage in the country. In short, we need a statesman Hurt by Advisers My personal regard for Col. Lindbergh makes me say that it is important that he cut himself loose from most of his advisers, because he is still a great hero to the kids of the country. His advisers have SO been his worst enemies, through the bungling of their adroitly cumbersome public relations plans, and through using him as a figurehead. Ostentatious efforts to shield him from the public with escorts of police, detectives and deep secret plans, plus his own stubborn determination to move around as an known citizen, constitute in the gate the most effective publicity promotion program ever con- |

Col. Lindbergh is a fine sample of American manhoed, in character and standards worthy of being heroized by the youth of any nation. He ought to be the best loved fellow in the land. But no, some one sold him a hill of goods about shunning the public, and about his value as a spearhead for the promotion of commercial aviation ventures. He Needs to Grin 1 Man of the World is a jcb than being Prince of Wales. Princes are trained from babyhood for public position, but Col. Lindbergh had neither the faintest warning nor traimi Col. Modern air-conditioned ice refrigeration is nature's logical method of preserving foods. By using scientifically designed grilles and baffles, a con stant circulation of CLEAN-WASHED, MOIST, FRESH AIR is maintained throughout the entire refrigerator. Only MELTING ICE in a modern ice refrigerator gives foods the two ADDED safeguards of protection: First— the all-important film of water which forms on MELTING ICE gives the moisture that is absolutely necessary for the scientific preservation of foods. Second=—this same film of water, coming into contact with the warm air that rises from the food compartment, washes it clean of food odors which are the common cause of flavor taints and the exchanging of food flavors.
