Pearl S. Buck's “The Patriot” will be dramatized at 8 o'clock tonight by Orson Welles and his Playhouse cast as the “best-new-book-for-April.” Mr. Welles will interview Mrs. Buck on the current situation in China and present an award to the author for her book. Anna May Wong, Chinese actress, who will appear with Mr. Welles in the play, will participate in the presentation ceremony. “The Patriot” is a story of modern China. Mr, Welles plays the title role, that of a progressive young Chinese who falls in love with a Japanese girl. Anna May Wong, who declined to play the Japanese heroine for patriotic reasons, has chosen the smaller, more appealing role of Peony, a Chinese slave girl.
