Trachoma, Syphil Syphilis, Gonorrhea Lead in Causes For Blindness. J
Infectious diseases, particularly trachoma, syphilis and gonorrhea, cause nearly one-third of the blindness in Indiana, a survey by the State Public Welfare Department showed today. Meanwhile, the Department and | medical leaders made plans for coordinating and enlarging the program for prevention of blindness and aid to the afflicted. | The study, based on 2552 persons | *&¥ aided by the Blind Assistance program up to June 30, 1938, also revealed that injuries accounted for | 8.4 per cent of blindness, congenital | and hereditary diseases for 8.3 per i cent and noninfectious systemic | 3 diseases for 7.4 per cent. | N |
