NEW YORK, April 12 (U. P.).— The New York racing season will open at Jamaica Saturday and riding in the feature Paumonok Handicap will be Don Meade, likable little jockey who sinned and was forgiven. Jack McAuliffe, Cincinnati hit with Indianapolis boxing fans in two previous appearances here, will be on the Armory card this Friday, according to announcement by Matchmaker Kelse McClure today. McAuliffe is matched with Billy Carlyle, local fighter, Frankie Lockwood, Cincinnati to meet Chuck Vickers, Indianapolis secrapper, in the six-round semiwindup. Vickers knocked out Battling Johnson, Louisville, and Bobby Vernon, Cincinnati, and won a decision from Jackie O’Brien, Lima, 0O., in earlier fights at the Armory. Herb Gilmore, Cincinnati and Paul (Tennessee) Lee, featherweight champions in their respective states, will come together in the eight-round main go. He registered 614 in the Community division and 605 in the North Side Automotive group, both at Uptown, Scoring in the leagues last night was heavy and the quantity was more outstanding than the quality. Some of the better team scores were registered by Yale Tires in the Pritchett loop with 2079 on games of 991, 945 and 1043.
