Strong City Pin Teams Go to Bat

Renew Firing This WeekEnd in State Bowling Tournament.

Action on the state tournament bowling “front” was scheduled to be light this week-end from a standpoint of number of teams competing. However, in light of the qual-| ity of quintets slated for action] there is no assurance that there will} be any letup of the assault on the! high marks already registered. |

Minor events again this session; will take the major portion of the | alleys. Five-man teams open the | fourth week of activity in the 30th] annual tournament tomorrow night at 8:15 and the abbreviated sessions will conclude after the last squad of | nine teams, which roll at 10:30, try their hand. Minor events start at 11:30 Sunday morning and will be run off at 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 p. m. As a grand finale for the evening's pin smashing, several of the finest crews in Indianapolis will take the alleys. Anything Can Happen No less than four of the teams which will roll Sunday bettered the standing tournament five-man team mark in Indianapolis League competition Wednesday night. Barbasol rolled 3183, Russet Cafeteria, 3083; Falls City Beer, 3083; Ajax Beer, 3061. and Marott scores 3052. Standings at the present find A. M. Todd of South Bend still in the top spot for quintets, with I. U. Dental Students in second on 2938. Jess Smythe, Indianapolis bowler, is the man to beat in the all-events with his 1906. Reid Sharum, another Indianapolis entrant, promises to be hard to displace from his top spot in the solo scoring. Last week he hit 743 to relegate the former leader, Herman Land, Kokomo, to second piace on 699. Schedule Changes Made

Meanwhile two changes have been made and four five-man teams have been added to the schedule for) events in the tournament this] week-end. The Guarantee Tire and Rubber Co. will roll in the 8:15 shift to-| morrow instead of the Universal] Indians who have already com- | peted. Sunday night on the 8:15 shift McDaniels Freight of Craw-| fordsville wiil roll instead of Terminal Tavern of that city. Douglas Specials have been added | to the list of teams bowling at 10:30 Saturday night and will roll on alley 22. Other teams recently added to the list of this Ne competitors are Optimist No. 1, a} local booster crew, Cornelius Print-| ing Co. and Monument Coal Co. Drawings of alleys for teams bowling in the 8:13 o'clock Sunday shift were announced today by Norman Hamilton, in charge of the tournament. The schedule for follows: Alley 11 12 8
