| FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 1¢ ‘SMART ALECKS' GET RAZZED BY GIRLS IN ‘COURT’
Boy Friends’ Ears Burn as Mock Trial Hears Opinfons on ‘Dates.’
EVANSTON, Ill, April 7 (U. P).— It was Ladies’ Day in Municipal Court. Evanston High School girls were asked to tell whats wrong with ‘their “dates.” And the answer was —plenty! ~ Among other things, the girls accused their boy. friends of (1) showoff driving on dates, (2) relating dsstructive rumors about girls, (3) not being able to adjust themselves (4) getting dates too far in advance, (5) excessive swearing and (8) taking advantage of a girl. ‘Grand Jury’ Indicts
The charges were contained in an indictment voted by a “Grand Jury” of tenn-age boys and girls who also indicted parents, teachers and the church and brought them to “trial” before student judges, prosecutors and defense counsel. The “trials” were suggested by an Evanston Y. M. C. A. conference group to stimulate interest in youth problems. A jury of seven students and five adults hearing testimony will not return verdicts, but will offer suggestions in an effort to remedy com“plaints. “Judge” Barbara Brewer, 17, presided at the trial, and the prosecution was handled by stockingless Carolyn Yaeger, 16-year-old sophomore, dressed trimly in plaid jacket, plain pleated skirt, gray oxfords and a white beret tilted at a saucy angle. The boys, who charge their girl friends with being “gold diggers” and “jitterbugs,” will have their +'day” in court. Cites Changing Times
“The family album and the spinning wheel have passed out,” Prosecutor Yaeger said in her cpening statement, “but we still believe that gentlemen should be gentlemen. Boys who sit on a sofa and take up a lot of time, who keep girls out toc late and swear in their presence, and who do show-off driving on dates are not the most popular boys.” © Miss Yaeger, emphasizing show- | off driving. called petite Elizabeth Lundquist, 15-year-old blond te the stand. “What happened the Nov. 16?” “I was out riding with a boy and another couple,” the witness replied. “The boys began to play ‘fender tag’ with another car in which & high school couple was riding. They also played ‘shag’'— driving from one side of the street to the other, then onto the sidewalk and through somebody's front yard.” Youth Cross-Examines “Defense Attorney” Richard Welty cross-examined the witness. Q— “Was this a fictitious evehing?” A—"No. Tt happened.” «+ @—"Didn’t the girls encourage %he boys by laughnig at them?®” A-—Na> Q— Did the girls tell the. boys not to do it?’ A—"Yes.” CQ —"Firmiy®® A—"Yes.” Q—“Did the boys continue to do §t°° A-—-"Yes.” Defense counsel shrugged his shoulders—and sat down.

Boy Steals ‘Money for Gun, but Never Fires It.
LEVELAND, April 7 (U. P). —Here’s what happened because 9-year-old Tommy Milner wanted a “BB” gun: He opened his six-months-old baby brother's bank and borrowed $2 for the gun. He sent two older boys, Johnny Ziegler and Eddie Miller, both 15, to the store to buy it. On the way home, Johnny threw a bottle in the air for Eddie to hit. Eddie missed and the shot broke the window of a passing truck. : The truck driver collared the boys and the gun and turned them over to police. Assistant Police Prosecutor Evefyn Cohen issued a warrant charging Morrey Smalley, hard-ware-store proprietor, with sale of a “dangerous weapon to a minor.” Tommy hasn’t fired his “BB”
yet.
PURDUE DEBATERS FIND ‘NO CONTEST
LAFAYETTE, April 7.—The Purdue University debating team was back today from Charleston, S. C, where it went hoping to win a debate with the College of Charleston team. Things didn’t pan out very well for either team because both had prered for the negative side of the resolution. There was no debate.

Thriled When It Brought Grand Relief After All Other Medicines He Tried Had Failed to Help Him.
«No. sir, I don’t think Natex could $ave helped me more if it had been fnade especially for my case,” detlared Mr. W. C. Rohlwing, Wwellknown farmer liv.= on R. F. D. 2, this city, in a red > conversation “vith the special Nate representagive at Haag's Claypool Hotel Drug Btore, Illinois and Washington Sts. It's pretty hard for a man to keep up with the rigorous work of farming when he suffers as I did a short time ago. Constipation, you gee, had been with me for years, -et not one of the many laxatives i tried brought me really satisfactory help. Most everything I ate, no atter how little of it, seemed und to distress me intensely: my sleep at night was made restless and fitful by the bad state of my herves; and, try as I might, I geened unable to get relief from the wmches in my back and the stiffness find soreness in my muscles. i «After just a short time on Natex, owever, I realized that I'd found ® medicine that was different, a medicine that really did all it was gupposed to. : . «Never did anything ever get my “sowels moving better than did just ® few doses of Natex. Mr. W. C. Rohlwing
‘my strength and energy improved | considerably. My nerves quieted down nicely, too, and I soon began to sleep wonderfully soundly. Most important of all, perhaps, there's no sign of an ache in my back and my huscles seem more supple and limber than they have in a long, long time. Naturally, I'm only too happy to recommend this great medicine, Natex, to anyone now.” A special Natex representative is at Haag's Claypool Hotel Drug | Store, Illinois & Washington Sts, |daily explaining the merits of Na(tex and how it can help you.
