24 CHARGED WITH $1,150,000 SWINDLE

NEW YORK, March 30 (U. P.)— Twenty-four men and eight corporations were under indictment by a Federal Grand Jury today on a charge of swindling thousands of persons out of a total of $1,150,000.

Nine men and two corporations were indicted in the first group, accused of getting $850,000 through deception and illegal practices. The leader was alleged to have been Donald P. Kenyon, who died last

There, according to the seaman’s story, the organist made improper advances and a fight resulted. Vaughn said that during the struggle he hit his opponent on the head several times with a hammer he found in the car and then, hearing an auto approaching, threw the body over the 200-foot ocean front cliff. The young man, on leave from the U. S. S. Vincennes, was arrested later when involved in an accident with the McCann car at Bakersfield. Vaughn enlisted in the Navy May 17, 1938. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Leroy. Vaughn, 207 E. North St., Indianapolis.

P.). — Harry Dingledine, 56, and Henry Dingledine, 29, are to die in the electric. chair at Ohio Penitentiary on the night of April 19— the first father-and-son execution in Ohio criminal history. : In a triple execution, Harry Chapman, 37, of Chicago, also will die. The three were convicted jointly at Springfield of - killing Patrolman Martin Randolph during a gun battle which followed a holdup on Sept. 3, 1937. The Ohio Supreme Court set the execution date after refusing to review lower court decisions in their cases.

—Dr. John R. Brinkley, who made a fortune off old men seeking the vitality of youth, was denied damages today by a Federal jury which decided he was not libeled in Dr. Morris Fishbein’s article challenging his abilities as a surgeon. He had asked $250,000.
