“The War Department made a vast survey starting when the flood “started and ending after the floods had receded and after property losses had been evaluated and they reported the loss at $408,600,000,” “Rep. Crowe told the committeemen. “. “That loss largely obtained in cities and towns. Such damage and losses will be repeated with the next and each succeeding flood until these levees are constructed. One disastrous flood will cause damages costing many times the cost of the levees.” Pointing to the whisky taxes levied at Lawrenceburg, Rep. Crowe stated that this community pays the Federal Government annually six * times the amount of the cost of the ‘levees to be constructed there.

“I can see no justice or excuse for any further delay in an appro~.priation of sufficient funds to take
eg «care of that City,” he said.
+ Jeffersonville also should have « immediate action because of the strategic location of the Army Quartermaster’s depot there, the Congressman asserted. Earlier ‘this week, Rep. Crowe went to the White House with a ficod control committee seeking support of President Roosevelt for raising the fund. He came away convinced that the new economy program prevents the President from offering any help, he said. + Tomorrow Rep. Crowe will present his case before the National Rivers: and Harbors Congress in session here.
JONES FINDS OUTLOOK FOR BUSINESS ‘FAIR’
WASHINGTON, March 24 (U. P.) —Reconstruction - Finance Corp. Chairman Jesse Jones today described the business outlook for the rest of the year as “pretty fair.” He explained that use iof the word “pretty” was intended to mean that business would be better than fair. “I don’t see any deterrents to business improvement,” he said. He declined to be drawn into a discussion on taxes.

a G-Man?” And, according to: Herold Reinecke, agent in charge of the Indi-
ana office, there are frequent visits
from high school girls who have ambitions to chase lawbreakers for the Government. “Women haven't been admitted to the service yet, so.the girls have no. chance for the present,” Mr. “But we encourage the boys all we can. We tell them they must have two or three years’ experience in their profession. “But even ' that isn’t enough,” he continued. “They must be in the best of health and have an excellent personal background.” Because of the demand for talks about G-Men, Mr. Reinecke has spoken to hundreds of high school groups. Almost invariably, these end with a score or more students clustered about the speaker, wanting to know even more. The largest group to whom Mr. Reinecke has spoken was at Technical High School last fall where 5700 students heard the story of the FBI. “I believe there is an extraordinary interest in our work in Indiana,” Mr. Reinecke said. “We don’t mind missing meals or getting to bed late when these young people are so interested.” Mr. Reinecke is qualified to explain the FBI work. He has been a G-Man 14 years and worked in the Dillinger and Bremer kidnaping cases. The Indiana office was established in June, 1934. Previous to that the Cincinnati office was in charge ofthe southern Indiana dis-
vised northern Indiana.
