under the order, was heard at the morning session, and eight or nine others were scheduled to testify this afternoon.
Among those testifying was Clair
| Sides, 4618 E. Washington St., whose
son was among those excluded. Mr, Sides said he doesn’t “believe in vaccination” because of “all I have heard about vaccines.” The suit, which also seeks $5000 damages, was brought by the parents of a 12-year-old boy. The parents charged that the Health Board acted illegally in ordering .all children who had not been vaccinated against smallpox excluded from school. : The petition further states that City officials failed to invoke proper laws in dealing with the recent outbreak. In order to exclude unvaccinated pupils, officials should have banned all public meetings and required vaccinations of all persons, the suit charges. Because the vaccination order affected only school children, the Health Board’s action was illegal, the suit alleges.
