Crinolines continue to be important in the collections of designers. Among these Bruyere shows a pleated crinoline black silk faille taffeta frock. Jacques Heim is presenting a series of flowing midVictorian gowns in silk faille taffeta, chiffon, jersey, net, organdy, moire or satin worn over silk taffeta crinolines. Many of the silk taffeta petticoats worn under the silk sheers give the effect of crinolines as does the group at Heim Jeunes Filles in rose hued starched silk chiffons which are worn over lace edged silk taffeta’ petticoats. : Silk taffeta too is a favored foundation formany evening gowns other than the crinoline type as at Alix where it is used under ‘exquisite lilac printed silk organdy frocks.
