* Pictures Are Your Best Entertainment.” Life has resumed its normal course for all of us, except perhaps Mrs. Benincasa of San Francisco and Mrs. Carpenter of Barberton, O., who doubtless are wondering which of many tempting investment offers to accept after the tax collector has finished with their first and second prize winnings in the Movie Quiz. “Motion Pictures’ Greatest Year” seems to have lasted four months, > though the statement hardly bears "the stamp of calendar fact. During that period (September through December) Indianapolis saw some 46 films of more than Class B budget and pretention.. Since they coincided with {the entire picture industry’s “greatest year” campaign, they may be, singled out as the best the cinema has to offer, A fair basis of judgment might be to compare them with the pictures . seen here during the similar period * of 1937, and to pick the best half- . dozen representatives of each group.

RELIEF ‘FOOD STAMP’ SYSTEM IS DRAFTED
Propose Spending Half of WPA Wages for Meals.
WASHINGTON, March 7 (U. P). —The Government's new plan for distributing food to relief clients was put inte final form today on a basis which, in effect, would increase the benefits now paid but would encourage recipients to spend at least half of their income for food. The plan will be submitted to a conference of grocers next week. Development of the plan, which may have far-reaching effects on the relief setup and whole economic system, has advanced to the point that formal announcement of its introduction on an experimental basis is expected in about a week. ' The experiment will be conducted jointly by the Agriculture Department, the WPA and other relief agencies. It involves free distribution of “food stamps” to relief clients to be exchanged for farm

In addition, 152 cities ranked “good” and the remainder “fair” to “very bad.” Little Rock, Ark., New Orleans, and Tampa, Fla. received the worst rating. Indianapolis was not mentioned in the survey. “Motion Pictures’ Greatest Year,” then, gave us “The Citadel,” “Angels " With Dirty Faces,” “You Can't Take * It With You,” “Boys Town,” “Four Daughters.” and “Sweethearts.” From the year before, we have © “Zola,” “Stage Door,” “The Awful
