Improved Tone in Stocks Aids Rise; :Outside Markets Off.

P).~— Wheat prices worked fractionally higher in slow trading on the Chicago Board of Trade today, aided by an improved tone in. securities. : At the: close wheat was up % to|C 1, cent, May 68%, corn was unchanged to up % cent, May 49%, land oats were unchanged, to % cent ‘higher, May 29. Opening quotations in wheat were about steady. A lower Liverpool market and precipitation. in the Southwest - winter wheat belt restricted buying, but scattered demand developed on the encouraging action of the stock market and other commodity markets. General interest in the market continued small, and price movements were limited to a narrow range. Liverpool wheat closed unc! to 3 cent lower, after early néss. Pressure on July wheat was reported due to the foc! Argentine wheat is now on with that position. Winnipeo’ showed a firm tone. is a particularly important Jee -end of radio music, containing as it does the end of Arturo Tosni’s season with the NBC Symon y ‘Orchestra, the opening of Ignace Jan Paderewski’s 20th rican tour, and the appearance of Dean Robert L. Sanders of the Indiana University music school as composer and guest conductor with the New York Philharmonic-Sym-phony Orchestra.

The Polish pianist, forward-look-ing for all his 78 years, will be playing his ‘first ‘broadcast in America and his second for American listeners on the “Magic Key” hour at 1 p,m. tomorrow, NBC-WIRE. This will be Mr. Paderewski’s only New York recital of the season, and will be heard by a visible audience of 1450 invited guests in Radio City’s Studio 8-H. The program will include four Chopin compositions: The A Flat: Ballade, two songs transcribed by Liszt, and the A Flat Polonaise, as well as the Melody in B Major from Mr, Paderewski’s “Chants du Voyageur.” e nearest Mr. Paderewski will come to Indianapolis in his 21-city tour will be for his recitals in Cincinnati on March 8, and Columbus, O., March 2

The occasion is part of his reward as cawinner of the Philharmonic-Sym-phony Society composition. prize. Besides the first performance the concert will include the American radio debut of Eduardo del Pueyo, Spanish pianist.
