of Indianapolis luncheon yesterday
| at the Severin Hotel.
. The luncheon was a welcome home for Dr. Elliott, who had been absent from the University for five months while serving as adviser to the regents of the University of Manila, at the invitation of Mr. McNutt, high commissioner of the Philippine Islands.
Dr. Elliott said he found many Purdue graduates in the Islands,

BUCKWHEAT FLOUR USERS PROTECTED
Contaminated buckwheat flour grown in bottom lands of the Wabash River has been removed from the market and destroyed, the State Health Board's food and drug .bureau announced today after 15 complaints of illness caused by eating this flour had been received. The complaints were investigated

DOUBLE RITES FOR COUPLE AT HARLAN
HARLAN, Ind., Feb. 23 (U. P.).— Double funeral services will be held tomorrow for Martin Blume, 87, and bis wife, Susan Eakright Blume, 79. Mrs. Blume died Monday of pneumonia and her husband died 25 hours later of the same disease. Mr. Blume will be buried near here while his wife will be buried in Mt. Pleasant cemetery near Builer,

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Feb. 23 (U. P.) —Capt. Douglas E. McDowell, 76, a Spanish-American war veteran, newspaperman and pioneer advocate of the medicinal value of herbs, died yesterday in the War Veterans’ hospital of a heart attack. In the early part of the century, McDowell gained wide publicity in a dispute with Federal authorities over the medicinal benefits of the herb ginseng. He became one of the largest producers of ginseng in the country. Mr. McDowell worked on newspapers in Ness City, Kas, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Louisvilie and Nashville, He helpéd establish the Louisville Dispatch.
