Postal receipts and outbound carloadings were greater than those in January, 1938, while inbound carloadings declined, the review shows. There were 963 fewer WPA workers in January than during December, the report states, and 3402 ‘more than in January, 1938. An 8.1 per cent. decrease in employment and a 9 per cent decrease in payrolls from December was recorded in reports to the Indiana State Employment Service from 577 establishments in Indianapolis.
