RD HAS LIGHTEST STOCK TRADE OF YEAR:
Traction Group Strong Spot in List; Range Narrow.
NEW YORK, Feb. 15 (U. P)— Trading dwindled to the lightest of the year on the Stock Market today and prices moved narrowly.
Around noon the list was prac- |; tically unchanged with small gains |B& Bu
and ‘losses balancing eacn other. The ‘only strong group was the traction where Third Avenue Railway made a new high and the Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit issues moved up fractions to more than a point. Grocery made new highs. Wright Aero rose 1% ‘points on a single: transaction. . Steel - issues held fractional advances. Railroad issues were steady around the previous close and the utilities were practically unchanged. Oils turned down after early firmness. Motors were easier with Chrysler off a- full point at its low of 75. Coppers eased slightly with the price of export copper. |
U. S. Loans Are Firm
'U. S. Government loahs firmed in an otherwise dull and ®irregular trade on the listed bond market. ‘Federal liens attracted only moderate demand in early dealings but offerings were light and prices moved forward to show net gains of 1-32 to 7-32 point. ‘New York City Traction. Co. Joan were strong in the corporate Manhattan issues registered early gains extending to about a point

moved up to new 1938-39 highs on gains ranging to 2 points. “Other domestic tion bonds hovered around their previous closing levels. Foreign dollar loans improved moderately under lead of Latin American issues.

Firmness in aircraft issues featured an otherwise dull market in curb stocks, Price changes were small. , Fractional early gains in aviation shares ranged to ; point in American Airlines. Utilities generally were steady around the previous close but Electric Bond & Share eased 1. Babcock & Wilcox extended an opening loss to 1% points but other industrials were steady. Mining shares were neglected. Humble Oil lost a point but other issues were
