Lambs Frolic Draws Howls
As “Sweethearts on Parade,” a company of animated valentines capered two by two through elaborate dance routines and rollicking arias at the Lambs Club Frolic Saturday evening at the Columbia Club. Against a backdrop of crimson hearts on a blue ground, “famous couples” made their entrances on a revolving stage as Percy H. Weer, in the role of a pink and blue Cupid with Harpo Marx coiffure, “explained” them to the audience. Mrs. William G. Sparks and Michael J. Duffecy Jr. at the two pianos provided tuneful accompaniments for the eight “turns.” A bouncing ball and slate served as “props” for the “School Days” number by Mr. and Mrs. Frederick C. Pier, Kid Sweethearts. Mrs. Walter J. Stuhldreher in silver lame, dazzling coronet and jewels
: -made a stunning Josephine for Mr. Stuhldreher who ccntrived io
maintain his Napoleonic pose throughout song and dance. To the strains of “Three O’Clock in the Morning” Mrs. Rudolph Stempfel as a red-wigged Maggie armed with a rolling pin threatened her comic strip Jiggs, Joseph C. Wallace. Robert D. Robinson as a dashing Student Prince and Mrs. J. Harry Green, a peasant-cos-tumed Kathie, harmonized to “Deep in My Heart, Dear.” ; » The Lambs howled with delight when “Flat Foot Floogie” issued from the piancs for the Stokowski and Garbo impersonation, pre-
sented by Mrs. Herbert A. Pinnell as Greta and white-wigged William
Frederick Souder. With an enoymous pair of dumbbells Kurt F. Pantzer proved his strength as a bearded Sampson until Mrs. Souder, a bejeweled and veiled Delilah, pulled out her shears and cuf his shaggy locks. Mrs. Pantzer and Johnnie Sweet, Campus Sweethearts, contributed a polished bit of ballroom dancing. Just before the grand finale George Fotheringham and ‘Mr. Stempfel appeared as a menacingpair . > Biers, complete with Sreoping | forelocks, swastika armbands and azi salutes.
