Decrease Possible

“However, there is the possibility that results of immunization in the schools will become apparent in March and we can expect a decrease then.” Up to Saturday, there were 76 new cases since Feb. 1. The total number developed during Januaky was 139. Dr. Morgan said the response to the Health Board's compulsory vaccination order affecting pupils and personnel in the City’s public and parochial schools has been “satisfactory.”

FORGER'S ‘DOUBLE’ GETS HELPING HAND

‘Phantom’s’ Confession May Save Him From Jail.

MILWAUKEE, Wis., Feb. 13 (U. P.) —Clifford Shephard, 52, started back to Newark, N. J., today happy over the thought that he probably wouldn’t- have to “stand in” for the “phantom forger” again. Mr. Shephard unfortunately resembles Eugene E. (Phantom) Sullivan, 54, now an inmate of Wisconsin‘ State Prison at Waupun. Because of this resemblance, Mr. Shephard said, he once served 28 months in prison for Sullivan’s forgeries in New Jersey. Last December he was arrested on the same charge again. With a prison sentence staring him in the face, Mr. Shephard enlisted the aid of the Rev. Harvey G. Chaurette, Newark, and the two came here to appeal to ‘“Sullivan’s better side.” They "visited Sullivan at State Prison and got what they came for —a signed confession saying that Sullivan had been forging the checks which were sending his double to prison. : "Assistant District Attorney Charles: Kerstein said he believed the “phantom forger’s” confession should clear Mr. Shephard.

‘KALAMAZOO, Mich., Feb. 13 (U. P.) —Frank Rusoti, 42, said today he would sacrifice a “sizable” fortune left by his father in Italy for American citizenship and . his job at a paper mill. Mr. Rusoti, who came to this country when he was nine, said the terms of the legacy would force him to live in Castel Mona, Italy. “I would rather be a paper mill ‘worker. than an Italian count,” he

NEW YORK, Feb. 13 (U. P.)—By the simple expedient of verbal divorce, King Ibn Saud of Saudi, Arabia, whose religion permits only four wives, has married and parted from 250 spouses, two travelers reported today. They were Mr. and Mrs. Whitney Carpenter who stayed with the King in ‘a modern palace whose electric light system does not function and whose hot water pipes carry no water at all. A wealthy retired broker, Mr. Carpenter said the King, head of the Wahabi Sect, can eliminate a wife with the words, “Thou art divorced.” He has used the formula frequently; always arranging, however, to take care of the divorced wife. He has 51 children—29 sons and 22 daughters. At 70 the King is still healthy, the Carpenters said. He told them that

GUARDSMEN ANGRY AT SWASTIKA ORDER

PHOENIX, Ariz, Feb. 13 (U. P.). —The swastika emblem of the 45th Division, comprising Southwestern National Guard units, was ordered abandoned today because it looks too much like the Nazi cross. Guardsmen were indignant. “We have had that insignia since the division was organized,” one of them said. “And the Indians used it long before that. If anybody copied it—it was the Nazis themselves.” Maj. Gen, W. S. Key, Oklahoma City, the division’s commander, issued the order and called a staff meeting to decide on a new emblem, “preferably of Indian origin.”
