As honorary president of the Scouts Mr. Roosevelt said he would “like to think that faithful observance of the Scout oath constitutes an excellent preliminary training in

“1 like to think of the entire Scout training as an | apprenticeship for the mastery of civic duties,” he added. “ .. I appeal to all of you to be faithful now and always to the Scout oath ...” In opening, the Chief Executive said that the Nation has never had a greater need of the Scouts than it has today. \ “To all who have had a part in bringing the Scouts to their present splendid standing I offer hearty congratulations,” he said.

HIRTY-TWO already were married and 39 engaged when they enrolled. | Five were faculty members, 16 were townspeople. and the rest were University students, including four freshmen. In answering a questionnaire at the end of the semester, 102 said biology was the subject which interested them most; 37 named economics, 12 ethics, 28 law and nine sociology. Fifty-six favoring giving more time to biology discussion; three,

wife, favored decreasing biological material. All favored continuing : the course on a noncredit basis, giving as reasons: It should attract only serious students and discourage snap course hunters. It should avoid complications of credits, grades and departmental administration. : All except two upheld the mixed class and favored its continuance. Two unmarried faculty members récommended segregation of men and women. ; Fitty-five thought small grou discussions would improve the value of the course. Thirty-two were opposed to additional group discussions. : ” » 8

"OST students favored indi-

conferences were held last semes-. ter, and Dr. Kinsey predicted that many more will be requested this semester. Thirty members of the class recommended that the course be : thrown open to all University students, including freshmen. Wrote one member: ‘These lec-

fit to students than any other one course in the University. They should be, continued on an enlarged scale. The problems in this course should be discussed freely without fear of University or out-: side interference.” " Another labeled the course “a noble experiment.” Lectures this semester, will be given by faculty members of the economics, ethics and socioligy departments, the School of Medicine and the School of Law.
